This 15th annual event, billed as an early care and learning conference, will bring together those involved in the care and education of young children. This year’s theme is “Children: The Heart of the Matter.” It intends to improve understanding of child care, early childhood development services, family resource programs and general educational support through professional development, networking, and sharing of information and resources. Please register by Jan. 27.

* Anti-Bullying Contest DeadlineAnti-Bullying Contest Deadline

Surrey youth ages 14 to 18 are invited to enter an Anti-Bullying Day film contest. The deadline to submit a 30-second or a 60-second film is Feb. 6. Prizes will be awarded for the top three films in two age categories.

* Youth SummitYouth Summit

On Feb. 18, youth ages 11 to 20 will be meeting in cities across North America to participate in Free The Children’s annual youth summit. Youth will have the chance to hear from inspiring speakers, connect with amazing mentors and meet youth who share their passion for changing the world. Students will participate in interactive workshops and activities and learn how to be a leader in global change.

* Entrepreneurship ProgramEntrepreneurship Program

Time: 3:00 pm

PICS is hosting an information session for those ages 18 to 34 and who want to start a business on Feb. 22. PICS will share information about its four- to six-week program that teaches the marketing, money management and business plan writing skills. Seating is limited; pre-register at deshpal.grewal@pics.bc.ca or 604-596-7722 ext: 110. The event will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. at PICS Head Office – Unit 205, 12725-80 Ave., Surrey.
